For over 25 years now, KAWIR have been one of the unsung pillars of the classic Greek black metal sound. While the names Rotting Christ, Varathron, and Necromantia are incredibly important to that style’s foundation, it was KAWIR who kept the faith during the ’90s and into the new millennium.

Aristocratic Black Metal!

Necromantia was founded in 1989 by George “The Magus” Zaharopoulos (formerly known as “Magus Wampyr Daoloth”, as well as “Morbid” when collaborating with Rotting Christ) in bass/vocals and Makis “Baron Blood” in 8-string bass. The two have been the only consistent members of the band throughout its history, with other instruments handled by session musicians.

Jim AKA Mutilator was the first bassist and a founding member of the Greek black metal band Rotting Christ. George AKA Magus Wampyr Daoloth, The Magus or Morbid is a Greek musician and producer, mostly known for his work in the Greek black and death metal scenes.
