What is Death Metal?

Death metal is an extreme subgenre of heavy metal music which employs, distorted and low tuned guitars. Also, the deep growling vocals and the aggresive, powerful drumming are some of the main caharacteristics.

Building from the musical structure of thrash metal and early black metal, death metal emerged during the mid-1980s.

Bands like Possessed, Death, Obituary, Autopsy, Necrophagia and Morbid Angel are considered as pioneers of the genre.
